Croydon Community Mediation was started in May 1998 by the Housing Department of the London Borough of Croydon to offer mediation to help resolve neighbour dispute situations within the borough. CCM became an independent charitable organisation (reg. no. 1088222) in 2000 and, though still funded mainly by Croydon Council, now works from it's own offices in Central Croydon.
CCM offers professional and effective community mediation and dispute resolution assistance within the Borough of Croydon. The main focus is on neighbour disputes assisting anyone residing in the Borough who wishes to have neighbour problems resolved amicably. The service is provided mainly to Council tenants but is also available to any others resident in the borough.
The charity is run by a Board of Trustees made up of volunteers either working or living in the Borough. It employs one full time and two part time office based staff and in the region of 20 highly trained and experienced volunteer mediators.
CCM is proud to be one of the founding member organisations of the London Community Mediation Council (LCMC). LCMC strives to promote the highest standards of service delivery in community mediation across the London region.
CCM has also previously received an Investing in Volunteers Award for its role in encouraging, training and working with volunteers in the community.
